On October 27th the conference “Leaving Footprints in the Sea – Transforming Waste with the EcoeFISHent Project” was held at the natural History Museum Doria in Genoa, during the ‘Festival della Scienza’.

The ‘Festival della Scienza’ is a annual scientific event in Genoa (Italy), which attracts many visitors from young students to adults. During the festival exhibitions, meetings, workshops, shows, conferences are held by scientists, researchers, artists, authors, businesses and scientific organizations.
The event represented a great time to showcase the project to the public, made of both young students and adults. During the conference, partners of EcoeFISHent, presented their role inside the project. Maria Nives Riggio from FILSE, introduced the project; Junio Valerio Rombi from Micamo Lab, Raffaella Boggia and Elena Grasselli from University of Genoa, Federica Robino from Angel Consulting talked about the regulation, bio-actives extraction and cosmetic applications; Marco Monti exposed the Ghost Gears problem and its solutions. Giorgio Saio from Ticass acted as moderator.
Together with the conference, Matteo Acquarone, Claudia Chimenti, Marina Lippolis and Teresa Montali, Tommasinelli’s students in the course ‘Natural and Enviromental sciences’ of University of Genoa, presented the exhibition of ‘Sea Ghosts – the ghosts of the sea’, with pictures of nets and their impacts on the natural environment.
