EcoeFISHent is proud to be part of the Food and Health Working Group, a European cluster of nine projects working together to reshape the food and health sectors in support of the green transition.

This working group brings together projects funded under four different EU Green Deal Calls, all committed to advancing sustainability, circularity, and innovation in how we produce, process, and consume food — while also improving public health and reducing environmental impact.

By participating in this collaboration, EcoeFISHent contributes its expertise in circular bioeconomy solutions derived from fishery by-products, promoting sustainable alternatives for food supplements, skincare, and biodegradable packaging.

The Food and Health Working Group fosters knowledge-sharing, joint communication, and policy dialogue to amplify impact and encourage the replication of successful solutions across Europe.

Agro2Circular promotes a circular economy by upcycling agrifood residues into cosmetics, nutraceuticals, food ingredients, and biodegradable packaging. Starting in Spain and expanding to Italy and Lithuania, it uses a digital platform for traceability and supports scalable, sustainable business models.

ClieNFarms aims to achieve climate-neutral, climate-resilient farming by 2050. Through 20 demo farms across Europe, it tests and scales practical solutions tailored to local needs, involving farmers, businesses, and citizens to ensure real-world impact and adoption.

EcoeFISHent promotes a climate-neutral circular economy through six interconnected value chains linking blue and green sectors. It transforms fish-processing by-products into supplements, cosmetics, biodegradable packaging, fertilizers, biodiesel, and chitin, while protecting marine ecosystems.

ENOUGH develops solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the food sector by 55% by 2030 and reach climate neutrality by 2050. It tests technologies and strategies across the food chain to support a low-carbon future.

NeoGiANT uses grape by-products to create natural alternatives to antibiotics in livestock and aquaculture, helping reduce antimicrobial resistance and promote animal health.

PestNu uses digital and eco-friendly technologies to reduce pesticide and fertilizer use in farming, promoting safer, more sustainable food production.

SchoolFood4Change empowers schools to pioneer sustainable, healthy, and zero-waste meals. Operating across 3,000 schools and reaching 600,000 pupils in 12 countries, the project combines climate-friendly recipes, food education, and sustainable procurement to cultivate a lasting food culture aligned with the Farm to Fork Strategy and the UN SDGs .

SISTERS is an EU-funded Horizon 2020 project aiming to reduce food loss and waste across all stages of the food value chain in Europe—production, logistics, processing, retail, and consumption. By combining innovations like smart containers, bio-based packaging, short-supply platforms, and consumer-labeling tools, it seeks to cut food waste by ~27% and CO₂ emissions by ~20% in pilot case studies .

ZeroW directly addresses the challenge of food loss and waste by developing and testing a synergetic mix of innovations in real life conditions, with the aim to deliver ambitious reductions at all stages of the food supply chain from pre-harvest to consumption.
