WWF organized a workshop to raise awareness on Ghost Gears

On last May 16th WWF Italia organized a 2-day workshop in the Portofino protected marine area to raise awareness on Ghost Gears with local stakeholders, fishermen and scuba divers in cooperation with another EcoeFISHent partner, Arpal.

One of the topics of the workshop was, specifically, the EcoeFISHent project and the sea-bottom cleaning planned for the next July, according to one of the tasks of the project: “Awareness raising and dissemination actions on the ghost gear issue at local, national and international level”.

Dr. Giulia Prato, WWF project manager, also released an interview for italian TV Rai TgR Liguria aired last May 22th, during the International Biodiversity Day, mentioning also project EcoeFISHent:

The interview was the teaser for the event scheduled for the next 9-11 July.
WWF Italy will be organising a 2-day expedition in Portofino together with its «Blue Panda» sailing boat. 
An entire day will be dedicated to a sea-bottom cleaning, freeing the marine protected area of Portofino of some ghost gears, while a second day will be dedicating to discussion with local institutions.
