Fish side stream product issues mainly concern its collection, management and preservation.
Through the implementation of the innovative EcoeFISHent pre-treatment pilot unit, a method of preserving the properties of fish side stream product for further purposes is to be introduced.
Specifically, in this unit it is planned to dehydrate the side stream product and create eco-FISH-powders from which various bioactive substances will be extracted.
An integrated innovative extraction and purification process is implemented with the aim of obtaining bioactive, such as: Peptides, Collagen hydrolysates, PUFA-Omega 3 and Gelatine enabling the development of high-added value products, by opening up three new Circular Value Chains for food supplements, cosmetics, and bio-plastics packaging.
CVC2 – From fish to cosmetics: Extraction of bioactives for cosmetics
Similar to CVC1, the eco-FISH-powders are utilized to extract hydrolysed collagens, to be used for the production of skin care products.
