Cluster Digital Twin
Digital Twin in fisheries-based industrial clusters
Modern territorial ecosystems, including fisheries-based industrial clusters, are increasingly complex, characterized by dynamic interactions among industrial actors, infrastructure, ecosystems, and social communities. These interactions involve intricate flows of materials, energy, information, and economic resources, rendering traditional planning and management approaches insufficient for sustainable development. Digital Twin (DT) technology, originally developed for aerospace and manufacturing sectors, has evolved to address such complexities by enabling real-time digital replication and analysis of physical systems.
The Cluster Digital Twin (CDT) specifically models complex territorial clusters with multi-circular value chains, supporting their sustainability transformation, multi-performance optimization, and informed decision-making. It aims to digitally replicate, optimize, and scale these ecosystems across various territorial contexts. Key innovative features of the CDT platform include integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI) modules and support for Digital Product Passports (DPP).
The CDT facilitates deployment of the Cluster Business Model by integrating real-time data, AI algorithms, and advanced analytical tools to enable predictive simulations and replicability assessments. Its modular architecture encompasses data acquisition, IoT integration, data storage, processing, analytics, visualization, and scenario modelling. AI integration enhances performance monitoring and sustainability analysis, allowing quantitative evaluation of multidimensional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as social impacts (employment potential), food security, economic contributions (GDP), and environmental footprints.
Furthermore, the platform supports the EU’s DPP initiative, promoting transparency and accountability along supply chains. It tracks product origins, materials, and environmental impacts, providing stakeholders with real-time insights into product safety, compliance, and eco-friendliness. This comprehensive data collection fosters responsible production, consumption, and innovation, strengthening trust within the EU market and advancing sustainability objectives.
